Day 45

So I missed the gym today in favor of going out with my husband again. No food though, just a Halloween event. I'll make it tomorrow though, after going to get pumpkins at Larriland Farm in the morning. I might pick some apples too, either way it will be a fun and productive way to get some exercise. I have to be careful about this time of year, Fall always puts me in a big meal production mood. I love to cook anyway, and this time of year I want to more than ever. It might be the cool weather. I am picking some apples tomorrow and I found a recipe for Amaretto Apple Streusel Cupcakes on WW Online Friends Sharing Recipes. I might try to quench my cooking needs that way this week coming up.

I bought a digital food scale from Weight Watchers last week. It took me until tonight to open it up and try it. I used it to measure the corn bread stuffing mix that I use in my burger recipe. 6 ounces. Let me just say WOW. I was grossly underestimating the weight. I feel better knowing exactly what dinner cost, and I wonder what having a precise measurement for everything from now on is going to do for or to my weight loss.

Tomorrow is Friday, and if I go to the gym tomorrow and Saturday morning I will be satisfied. I don't know what the scale is going to say, but I feel alright so far. A maintain this week would be amazing. I haven't done my best this week I think, but I have no regrets. I had a great time, and didn't cheat, or ruin anything. I cant say it doesn't weigh on my mind though.

Hi Ruby,
Since you love to cook, I think that's a great idea, to find healthy recipes so you still get to do something you love, yet stay on plan.

Weighing food really does help keep you in control... I just used to tip cereal into my breakfast bowl before... The recommended amount for an adult is (a piddly, in my opinion, but I'm greedy!) 40 grams, but I was probably having five times that!

Stupid question time... You can't move for pumpkins in supermarkets it seems, but it's not particularly popular over here as a food - they're selling them with 'carving kits' for kids...

If I buy one, do I cook it just the same as an acorn squash, for example? I thought you might know as you're so good at cooking and I'm hopeless!

Exciting! You'll have to let me know how you like having the food scale. How much did it cost?

Are you a big fan of the Kashi Sunshine? I have a few boxes, and I love it!

If you wanna weigh something scary with your scale... try cake. It like as dense as lead when its on that scale.

**If you do love the Sunshine cereal, e-mail me your address (cincimom11 at gmail dot com), and I'll send you some good coupons I have for it. They expire on Halloween.

Retta - finding and trying out new recipes is one of the things that makes WW doable for me!

Patsy - I am not that great at cooking! I just love it!

When pumpkins are really small and not orange yet (like when they are still green) they can be eaten just like squash, but I've never tried pumpkin that way so I don't know how that will taste.

I also know that the pumpkins they sell in the store for carving aren't the best for things like pies, not that you cant, just that smaller "pie pumpkins" taste better. They are also called sugar pumpkins. :)

You can use canned pumpkin in almost anything (as long as it is pure and not pie mix) from low fat desserts to chili and soups! I love pumpkins...

cincimom! I do love it! I will totally email you my address! As far as the scale goes it was just shy of $40 and so worth it so far. This particular scale (WW) came highly recommended. I will let you know how it goes!

G - I bet I will get to see a lot of scary things on my scale before it runs its course. ;) Cake is probably just one of them.
